Begin by applying a pea-sized amount of toothpaste to the brush. Position the brush at a 45-degree angle to the gums, gently moving it back and forth in short, tooth-wide strokes. Ensure all surfaces are cleaned, including the outer, inner, and chewing surfaces of the teeth. Brush the tongue and roof of the mouth to remove bacteria and freshen breath. Rinse thoroughly with water, and store the brush upright to air dry. Replace the toothbrush every 3 to 4 months or sooner if bristles become frayed.
